On Christmas Eve, the tension rises to a climax with the arrival of several additional Baby Talking Tattletails who are here for "a party for Mama.", and enlist the player in a ritual to banish the Mama Tattletail forever. After some time, some of the camera feeds' names turn red, the lighting changes from blue to green, and trash bags and inanimate human bodies appear on Camera 5's "red" mode, Mama is watching as a man's lower legs struggle (the rest is obscured). On Night 4, the player finds a VHS tape it shows several interchangeable camera feeds from what can only be assumed to be a Tattletail commercial (which is actually footage from the trailer). All the while, the Mama Tattletail hunts down the player relentlessly. During each of the remaining nights leading up to Christmas Day, the player is awakened by Tattletail's mounting mischief and demands, including a game of hide-and-seek with an additional Baby Talking Tattletail toy that appears. The tape contains a snippet from a story in a read-along style, including prompts to "turn the page", about how "the children thought that Mama would never find them as long as she couldn't see them" but Mama found them nevertheless. In the corner sits the now-recalled Mama Tattletail, along with a cassette tape which can be played using the toy. On Night 3, the player encounters the contents of an old nursery in the basement. The next night the layer finds the same Tattletail in the tumble dryer, with no indication how they got there.

After playing with the toy briefly, the player character goes back to bed. The present is the new fad toy, Talking Tattletail. The player wakes up on December 20 to open their Christmas present early. The game was released on Steam on December 28, 2016. The gamefeatures Furby-like toys called TalkingTattletails, more specifically "BabyTattletail", which the player must care for while avoiding the pursuit of its recalled predecessor Mama Tattletail. Unlike the baby Tattletails, Mama Tattletail toys seem to have only been made in one color.Tattletail is a video game created by Waygetter Electronics. They share the cream-colored underbelly and muzzle of their younger kin, but are larger in size, have brown eyes and fur, a white tuft of hair on their heads and a tape-deck in their stomachs.

Their ears are the same size as those of the Baby Tattletails, and are smaller in comparison to their bodies as a result. The Mama Tattletail seen in Tattletail is the primary and only threat of the game, and has the appearance of a normal-looking Mama Tattletail toy. After going evil, however, she has torn ears, darker-colored fur and her eyes disappear, revealing glowing red LEDs. Her tape-deck's cover also seems to be missing. During the jumpscare sequence, she lunges at you, her head spins rapidly, and her mouth opens wide, revealing six very sharp, pointy teeth. Mama Tattletail was designed to read stories to children via the use of various pre-recorded cassette tapes. The tapes seem to have been accompanied by books for the children to read along with, judging by the inclusion of "turn the page" in the tape heard in-game. Mama Tattletail's head would rotate while the tape was being played. Mama Tattletail does not speak unless the tape is inserted, and may be unable to speak without a tape. Mama Tattletail is attracted to loud noises and will follow The Protagonist around based on the noises they or their Tattletail make. If the player approaches Mama Tattletail, or makes a loud noise too close to her, she will attack. Mama Tattletail's attack kills the Protagonist instantly. She can move around the house, but only when the player isn't looking directly at her. Looking directly at Mama Tattletail causes the player's Flashlight to go out.
